The small town on Ischgl stands in the far east of Austria, in the Tyrolean Alpine valley of Paznaun. This is prime winter sports territory and Ischgl’s ski areas link with others crossing the border into nearby Switzerland. If you hire a car in Ischgl you’ll be able explore all these very mountainous areas. It’s just part of one of the world’s largest ski zones. Other villages in the Paznaun valley have their own ski runs too, like Galtür and Kappl. The best historic town for day trips is Landeck with its prominent castle, history museum and galleries.
