Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. Booking in advance is required.
Once you submit your booking, we need to confirm your eligibility before the rental can be approved. This includes checking your PCO and Uber documents.
- Eligibility checks can take up to 4 business hours
- Your vehicle is not confirmed until these checks are completed
- Booking in advance helps secure vehicle availability
- Same-day pickup may be possible, but only after approval
Where can I pick up my rental EV?
You can collect your rental EV from one of the following Hertz PCO locations:
- Hertz Marble Arch: 35 Edgware Road, London W2 2JE
- Hertz Feltham: 9 Central Park Estate, Staines Road, Hounslow TW4 5DJ
- Hertz Dartford: North End Road, Dartford DA8 3Q
- IKEA Wembley: 2 North Circular Road, London NW10 0TH
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
You can cancel your reservation under the following conditions:
- 7 days or more before pickup: You will receive a full refund. No charges apply.
- Between 2 and 6 days before pickup: You will receive a 50% refund of the weekly rental rate. No additional charges apply.
- Within 48 hours of the scheduled pickup time No refund will be issued for the rental.
- If a deposit has already been taken, the deposit will be refunded.
How do I collect my vehicle?
When you arrive at your selected pickup location, a Hertz team member will be there to help you collect your vehicle.
- A Hertz representative will greet you on arrival
- They will guide you through the digital pickup process using the Hertz app
- You’ll review your rental details and complete the handover digitally
- Once completed, you’ll be shown the vehicle and can drive away
Who can apply for this offer?
To apply, you must meet our eligibility criteria. We use a trusted third-party provider to check this, ensuring all drivers fit within our insurance and risk requirements.
You can apply if you meet all of the following:
- Age: 25 years or over
- Licence: Valid UK or EU driving licence held for at least 5 years
- PCO status: Valid Private Hire badge
- Residency: UK resident for a minimum of 5 years
- Driving record:
- Maximum of 6 penalty points
- No serious driving convictions
- Claims history:
- No more than one at-fault claim in the last 3 years
Do I need a credit check?
No. We do not carry out a credit check.
Applying for this offer will not affect your credit score. Eligibility is based on driving, licence, and insurance criteria only.
How long will it take for my application to be processed?
We aim to process and confirm all booking requests within 4 business hours.
This includes completing your eligibility checks and reviewing the required documents. You’ll be notified as soon as your booking is approved.
How long after picking up the rental EV can I start accepting Uber rides?
You can start accepting Uber trips immediately after picking up your vehicle.
All Hertz PCO vehicles are pre-approved by Uber, so there is no additional vehicle approval required. As long as your Uber driver account status is “Active”, you can go online and start accepting trips straight away.
What happens if my application is unsuccessful?
If your application is unsuccessful, we’ll let you know and your booking request will be cancelled.
- No payment will be taken from your debit or credit card
- Any booking request will be cancelled automatically
- You’re welcome to apply again once you meet all the eligibility criteria
What happens if there are no vehicles available?
If there are no vehicles available at the time of your booking, you’ll have the option to join the waiting list.
- Your details will be added to the waiting list automatically
- You’ll be notified by email as soon as a suitable vehicle becomes available
- There’s no obligation to proceed when contacted
Is insurance included?
Yes. Your rental includes comprehensive Hire and Reward insurance.
This covers you for :
- Carrying passengers for private hire
- Delivering non-hazardous goods
- Personal use of the vehicle
You’re fully insured while driving for work and for everyday personal journeys, with no separate insurance required.
Is there an excess?
Yes. There is an insurance excess of £1,000 per incident.
This is the maximum amount you would need to pay if the vehicle is damaged or involved in an incident where a claim is made, subject to the terms of your rental agreement.
Can I reduce the insurance excess?
Yes. When you make your booking, you can choose to reduce the insurance excess from £1,000 to £250.
- The weekly cost for this option will be shown during booking
- The reduced excess must be added before your rental starts
- It cannot be added once the vehicle has been collected
What methods of payment are accepted?
We accept most major debit and credit cards.
- Visa and Mastercard are accepted
- American Express is not accepted
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes. A refundable deposit is required before your rental starts.
- Standard models: £150 deposit
- Executive (Exec) models: £250 deposit
Deposit details:
- The deposit is processed 24 hours before your scheduled pickup time
- If you book less than 24 hours before pickup, the deposit is taken at the time of booking
- The deposit is released up to 14 days after your rental ends
- Any outstanding charges (such as damage or unpaid fees) may be deducted before the balance is returned
Will the EV battery be charged when I collect it?
- Yes. Your vehicle will usually be charged around 95% when you collect it.
- This gives you enough range to start driving and accepting trips straight away. In rare cases, the charge level may vary slightly depending on operational requirements.
Can I have an additional driver or allow anyone else to drive the vehicle?
No. Only the named driver is permitted to drive the vehicle.
Your insurance only covers the driver listed on the rental agreement. Additional drivers are not allowed, and the vehicle must not be driven by anyone else
How do I know my booking has been successful?
You’ll receive confirmation once your booking and eligibility checks are approved.
Here’s how you’ll know :
- Keep app notifications turned on to receive updates
- Once your registration and eligibility are validated, you’ll receive:
- A confirmation notification in the app, and
- A confirmation email with your booking details
- Your first week’s rental payment will be charged to your registered card once the booking is confirmed
How can I amend my reservation?
You can edit or cancel your booking directly in the app. Simply log in to the app, go to your booking, and follow the steps to make changes or cancel if needed.
Is there a minimum rental period?
Yes. The minimum rental period is 1 week.
After your first week, you can extend your rental directly through the app, as long as the vehicle remains available.
What if I am late collecting my vehicle?
If you’re running late, please let us know as soon as possible via the app.
- Your rental charges will still start from the scheduled pickup time
- If you are more than 48 hours late and haven’t contacted us, your booking will be cancelled automatically
- In this case, the first week’s rental payment will not be refunded
Do I earn Hertz Gold+ points for this EV rental?
No. You are not eligible to earn Hertz Gold+ points on this EV rental.
Is there a mileage cap?
Yes. Your rental includes a maximum mileage allowance of 1,350 miles per week.
- If you exceed this allowance, you’ll be charged 70p per additional mile
- Any excess mileage charges will be applied to your account
How can I retrieve my past or current invoice?
All invoices are emailed to you automatically and are also available in the app. You can view or download both your current and past invoices at any time by logging into the app.
How can I access documents such as insurance, PHVL, etc.??
You’ll have access to all required documents directly in the app.

What if I want to return my vehicle early, before the end of my contract?
If you’d like to return your vehicle earlier than planned, or change the return date or time, please contact us in advance.
- Early returns or changes to the agreed return date are subject to approval
- We’ll confirm whether the change can be accommodated
- Additional charges may apply depending on the circumstances
