The Smart Forfour has a smooth new look, with a larger grille, revamped lights and new wheel designs – alongside a sleeker bonnet. The interior has also been refreshed, with a plush fabric dash that houses glossy, bright and playful plastics and leather-trim highlights throughout.
The smart media system inside the Forfour can mirror all your phone apps from both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on an 8-inch touchscreen, with Bluetooth and DAB as standard. You can also download a handy app for your smartphone to remotely check on features such as remaining charge or even where you left the car.
Steering and manoeuvrability are two of the Smart Forfour’s best assets, letting you navigate traffic easily and squeeze into even the smallest of spaces. The near-silent electric motor makes for a more enjoyable ride, while regenerative braking uses radar-based energy recovery to recharge the battery each time you slow down.
The Smart EQ control app lets you check on the status of the vehicle from your smartphone. For a compact city car, the Smart Forfour has a lot to offer in terms of comfort, with height-adjustable seats and steering column. A rear-view camera and rear sensors make parking a dream, no matter what size the space.
As the name suggests, the Smart Forfour seats four passengers, with a high driving position and adequate room in the front. Cup holders, glove box, door pockets and net storage in the rear console help store personal items. Boot capacity is minimal but will easily hold two carry-on cases – ideal for weekend city breaks.
To start charging your Smart Forfour hire car, attach the charging cable to the inlet and lock the vehicle. When a full charge is reached, or you want to continue your journey, simply unlock the car, remove the cable and close the charging flap.
