Ipswich lies next to the Suffolk coast, the River Orwell cutting through its heart, making this a key town in the east of England. It’s well connected to nearby villages, towns and cities, and in addition to its own industrial and shopping areas, it’s within convenient reach of numerous other resorts.
Van hire in Ipswich is useful in so many situations, like moving home or helping a student in the family leave for university. When you’re making major and bulky purchases - and your own car just won’t do – van hire gives you the freedom and flexibility to collect furniture and white goods, rather than having to take time off work to wait in for them. It’s ideal for businesses that need to temporarily expand their own van fleet, too.
Whatever your reasons, it’s easy to reserve and collect one of our spacious, modern vans. Book online today.

Ipswich is close to a number of major A roads that open up not just the east of the country but also the south. The A12 runs from here, heading south-west through the nearby town of Colchester – the oldest in Britain – and on through Chelmsford into London. There’s also a separate section of the A12 (split by a section of the A14) to the east of Ipswich, which takes you north-east to the coast and Lowestoft.
The A14 runs to the south of Ipswich, coming from Felixstowe and crossing the River Orwell, before swinging north and taking you to Needham Market. Here, there’s a junction – continue on the A14 for Bury St. Edmunds or join the A140 and you’ll pass through Long Stratton on the way to Norwich.
If you need to park up in Ipswich, you’ll be able to use either on-street parking or one of the numerous council-run car parks in the centre. The borough council has an online map of their car parks with details such as tariffs and methods of payment.
In addition to city centre shopping and street markets, there are several retail parks on the outskirts of Ipswich where van hire can come in really useful. The Anglia Retail Park is located on Bury Road (the A1156 – leave the A14 at junction 53) with shops including Carpetright and B&Q.
The Argos Ipswich Suffolk Retail Park can be found on London Road – it’s just across the river from the Hadleigh Road Industrial Centre where you’ll find numerous kitchen and bed retailers.
To the south-east of the city, reached by Nacton Road, Futura Retail Park has branches of DFS, Oak Furniture Land and Furniture Village. John Lewis Home and Homebase are also nearby, making this the place to go if you’re planning to take some furniture home in your hire van.
