Paying the Dartford Crossing charge

Everything you need to know about using the Dartford Tunnel or QE2 Bridge

The Dartford Crossing charge or ‘Dart Charge’ will apply if you are travelling through the Dartford Tunnel or over The QE2 Bridge in your Hertz vehicle between 06:00 and 22:00.

Charges apply every day – including weekends and Public/Bank holidays.

You can pay in advance of your journey or by midnight the following day.

Hire vehicles are not exempt from the Dart Charge and it’s your responsibility to register the vehicle you are driving, even if you’re a visitor from outside the UK.

Simply pay the charge online at www.gov.uk/dart-charge, over the phone by calling 0300 300 0120 or via a Payzone retail outlet such as a Post Office.

Paying late, or failure to pay the charge, will result in a fine known as a ‘Penalty Charge Notice’. Visit www.gov.uk/dart-charge for more details.

We will charge you an administration fee, as well as the original Penalty Charge, if we receive a late payment demand relating to the vehicle you’ve hired or have to pay on your behalf.

Important: Hertz accepts no liability for these charges in relation to your hire vehicle usage.
