Where to return your hire car
Returning your Hertz car hire to Barcelona Airport is simple. Terminal 1 parking is located on level 0, zone A, and Terminal 2 parking is located in front of Terminal 2.
To get back the Hertz Barcelona Airport car hire location from the city centre:
- Take C/de Sepúlveda to Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes/C-31
- Continue on C-31 to C-32B
- Stay on C-32B until you reach Barcelona Airport.

What to do when you return your hire car
It’s important that you drop of your car hire by the agreed time on your booking confirmation. Dropping your vehicle off any later could result in additional charges.
Once you’ve dropped off your car hire, head inside of the terminal desk to drop off your keys. Upon returning your vehicle, we’ll conduct a damage inspection to make sure the car is returned to us in good condition. We’ll also conduct a fuel level check to see how much fuel is left in the tank.

UPDATE: I did get a refund for the charge but it wasn't easy. Multiple calls and emails to people in the US, UK, and Spain either went unanswered or rejected, until I filled out the online survey and someone from the airport followed up with me the next day to apologize and issue a refund. Now that's fixed I can say I'd rent here again, because it was a very very good price. Original review: I was having a 5-star experience until about an hour after I returned my car, and these people had the nerve to charge me €410 for stealing some wall adapter EV charging cable that I never even had in the first place, wouldn't have needed anyway, and definitely would have no reason to bring home to the US. Wow and I thought I was being nice by washing and recharging the car before returning it. Aside from that, it was a really good price to rent a fancy EV for 8 days, and the people I interacted with were nice and friendly. If I can get a refund for the fraudulent charge I'll upgrade this review to 4 stars.

For all Non-European Union renters, it is highly recommended your national driver's license must be accompanied by an International Driving Permit (IDP). An IDP translates the national license into various languages and is on its own, without the national license, not acceptable. If a license issued outside the European Union cannot be read or understood, then it is not acceptable, unless accompanied by a translation from the official source, e. g. embassy headed paper. This includes licenses which are only partly translated, Japanese and all Arabic licenses etc.
Driver's licences issued by the People's Republic of China/ Japan/ Korea may be accepted provided you present an official Hertz Certification form. Hertz China/ Japan/ Korea will issue this form on Hertz notepaper and will incorporate the Hertz China/ Japan/ Korea Corporate seal. A scanned copy of the original licence will appear on the Certification form. The Certification form is valid until the expiry date of the Driver's Licence. Both the Certification and the original licence (with an International Driving Permit strongly recommended by Police authorities in Europe) MUST be produced at the time of rental.
If you hold a Driver's Licence issued in Vietnam, you need to present the original licence together with an authorised translation issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport. If both documents are presented at time of rental these licences are acceptable worldwide.

Extra day is charged after 29 minutes over 24 hour rental period.
A one way rental is a rental which starts at one location and terminates at another. Availability is subject to location restrictions and vehicle type. A fee may apply for this service and will be advised at time of reservation.
One-way rentals are not allowed for:

Petrol / Diesel vehicles:
If you do not take our Fuel Purchase Option (FPO) – see Fuel Policy for details - and do not return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel, we will fill the tank for you and charge you for the costs we incur and the service we provide in doing so.
Our costs include purchasing, storing and managing our own fuel supplies, or refilling the tank off site, plus manpower and administration costs. Our service, of course, saves you from taking the time to find a local fuel station and refilling the vehicle yourself.
The refuelling charge for your rental will be calculated as follows:
1.2 x weekly pump price taken from the EU Commission Energy website plus €19.97 (including tax) service charge.
We will show the actual cost of refuelling on your rental agreement when you pick up your vehicle.
Electric vehicles:
Hertz will record the vehicle battery charge at the start of the rental. Failure to return the vehicle in the same state of charge as at pick-up will result in a recharging fee per missing kWh.
