Main roads in Lincoln

• A1 – is the longest road in the UK and can be reached from the city via the A46 or A57. It connects Lincoln to destinations such as London and Leeds, and four portions of this road become the A1(M) motorway.
• A46 – runs from Gloucestershire to Lincolnshire, following the course of the Roman Fosse Way between Leicester and Lincoln. It also links to Grimsby and Cleethorpes in the northeast.
• A15 – starts in Peterborough and heads north through Sleaford and skirting Lincoln on its eastern edge. It continues past the city and joins the M180 near Scunthorpe.
• A158 – arrives in the northeast of the city from Skegness. Here, it meets the A1434 which heads into central Lincoln and joins with the A15 and A46 roads.
• A607 – is a short route that becomes Sleaford Road and the A15 that heads south out of the city toward Peterborough.

Congestion Charges

Unless travelling on Christmas or Boxing Day, you’ll have to pay to cross the Dunham Toll Bridge if you arrive via the A57. This is where the road crosses the River Trent at the border between Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. The cost is dependent on the vehicle, so please remember to check for the latest vehicle lists and charges.

How to get to…

University of Lincoln

Lincoln University campus can be found in the centre of the city. College Mews student accommodation is located just off the A57. From here, cross Brayford Pool and follow Brayford Way which will take you to the campus.

B&Q Lincoln

There’s a second location on Crofton Road, just off the Lincoln Eastern Bypass, convenient if you’re moving goods and valuables east of the city.

Valentine Retail Park is located on Valentine Road, just off the A1192, where there are several homeware and furniture shops. If you need help transporting your purchases, our van pick-up point at B&Q is less than five minutes’ drive away.

East Midlands Airport

East Midlands Airport is the nearest airport to Lincoln and serves several destinations in the Midlands, including Leicester and Derby. It’s situated south of the city, just off the M1 and can be reached by travelling on the A46.
