Key motorways in and around Basingstoke

• M3 – is mostly a three-lane dual motorway that runs south of the city, continuing northeast where it meets the M25. It then heads into the outskirts of London and travels southwest towards the M27 and Southampton.
• M4 – was originally called the ‘Lond-South Wales Motorway’ and is located to the north of Basingstoke where it runs along the outskirts of Reading. From here it continues east to London and west toward Bristol and carries on to Cardiff and Swansea.
• M25 – also known as the ‘London Orbital Motorway’, it is one of the busiest and most important roads in the UK. It’s situated just 40 minutes to the east of the city and circles Greater London, for roughly 117 miles. 

Main roads in Basingstoke

• A33 – connects Reading to Basingstoke, Basingstoke to Winchester, and Winchester to Southampton in three distinct and disjointed roads. It’s accessible from the roundabout near Gresley Road. Towards the northeast of the city, it joins the A339 and continues south to Reading.
• A339 – is accessible from Ringway Street, where it continues onto Alton, or turns off onto the M3 at the south of the city. To the east and onto the north it joins up with the A34 just before the M4, above Newbury.
• A303 –  trunk road that connects Basingstoke and Devon to the south, by way of Stonehenge. It’s accessible from the M3 to the northwest of the city or Stockbridge Road from the A33. The A303 comprises one of the main routes from London to Devon and Cornwall.

It’s the perfect place to head to kit out your new home, or office or to get those must-haves for your move to university. It’s only a five-minute drive from our Exhibition court pick-up location, following Gresley Road to Basingview, then taking the second exit from Eastrop Roundabout.

B&Q Basingstoke

This DIY Store is located just off Winchester Road, north of the city, only a 10-minute drive from our Basingstoke van hire at Exhibition Court. Either take the M3 from the A339 or proceed along The Harrow Way. B&Q is close to several retail parks, in the event you need to pick up anything along the way.

Homebase Basingstoke

Homebase is situated less than a five-minute drive from B&Q, also on Winchester Road. Just take the fourth exit off the roundabout and go past the Shell garage.
