How can we help you ?

General Information

-

What is Hertz One?

Hertz One is a one-way rental offer. One way rentals are when you pick up the vehicle in one location and return it to another.  With Hertz One, a one-way rental costs just one pound per day.
-

Why is this product available?

Like any large vehicle rental company, moving our vehicles to where our customers need them is a big challenge.   With Hertz One, we hope that by offering these one way journeys between our most regular routes for just one pound per day, we will deliver great value rentals to our customers, as well as making sure that our vehicles are always where they need to be. A so called win-win!
-

What routes are available?

There are a variety of routes available across the UK, selected as the routes where we most frequently need to move vehicles.  Search for routes on the Hertz One homepage to see if one suits you! Over time we will look to add new routes. Keep an eye on the website to see when new routes become available.

Booking Your Journey

-

How do I book a Hertz One journey?

You can only take advantage of these rentals by booking through the dedicated Hertz One website. You are not able to take advantage of this offer through the main Hertz website (hertz.co.uk) or by going through our call centre.
-

What vehicles are available to rent with Hertz One?

We have three vehicle categories for these one pound journeys: vehicles where all we guarantee is four seats and a manual transmission; specific vehicles where we can give you more detail around what you will be making your journey in, such as the exact number of seats and room available for luggage, plus vans of various sizes, which we specify as a van and not a car.
-

What happens once I confirm my booking online?

Once you have booked your vehicle, you will receive a confirmation email from us. This will include all the necessary information regarding your rental including; the type of vehicle you have reserved, the location of the Hertz branch for collection and return, dates and times of your rental, the reservation number and what you will need to bring with you on the day.
-

What if I need to cancel my booking?

If you need to cancel your booking, you will need to contact our customer care centre. The standard Hertz cancellation fees and policies applies. If you wish to cancel, please contact the call centre on the following number +44 (0)20 7026 0077 (Hours of Operation: 07:00-22:00, Monday to Sunday).
-

Can I amend the date and time of my booking?

Because these one way rentals are only available for very specific times frames, once you have booked a Hertz One journey you cannot amend the date and time of your booking. If you need to cancel your booking you can do so by contacting our call centre on +44 (0)20 7026 0077 (Hours of Operation: 07:00-22:00, Monday to Sunday).

Terms and Inclusions

-

What are the rental restrictions?

For every journey you will have a pick up and drop off time, much like any normal rental. You will also have a mileage allowance for your journey.
-

What criteria do I need to meet to take advantage of one of these journeys?

You must be 23 or over to rent a Hertz One vehicle. If you are aged between 23 and 25 we will charge a young driver surcharge, which is £28.00 + VAT for each 24-hour period. You must also qualify under our standard eligibility rules. For more information on whether you are eligible for a Hertz One journey, please refer to our standard terms and conditions that are throughout the Hertz One booking process.
-

What is a mileage allowance?

This is the distance that we allow you to travel while you are on your Hertz One journey. We have calculated our allowance to give you more than enough mileage to get to your drop-off location.  You can see the mileage allowance that applies when you select a journey on the Hertz One website. It is also listed in your confirmation email.
-

What insurance is included in my journey?

With all journeys we include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection (TP). In the event of an incident, an excess will apply. For more information on these insurances please refer to our standard terms and conditions that can be found throughout the Hertz One booking process.
-

What if I want to include additional insurance?

Exactly like a normal rental, you can opt for the excess waiver Super Cover to complement the insurances that are already included. Additional charges apply. Please refer to our standard terms and conditions that are throughout the Hertz One booking process.
-

Can I add another driver to the rental agreement, or can I opt for other Hertz extras to make the journey easier for me?

Much like adding additional insurance to your rental, you can also opt for other ancillary products like adding another driver to your rental agreement. Additional charges apply. For more information, please refer to our standard terms and conditions that are throughout the Hertz One booking process.

Your Journey

-

What do I need to take to the Hertz location when I pick up my vehicle?

When collecting your vehicle, you will need to bring with you:
- Reservation details: the confirmation email with details of the rental
- A full valid driving licence: the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (the DVLA) scrapped the paper counterpart to photocard driving licences in 2015. In order to rent a vehicle, and where you hold a UK driving licence, you will need to visit the DVLA’s website to obtain a licence summary, which will provide an up-to-date record of any penalty points or disqualifications. You can request this summary via the new Share Driving Licence online service at www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence or by calling the DVLA on 0300 083 0013.
- A credit or debit card: the named renter’s card to cover the cost of the hire and security deposits, plus the credit or debit card you booked with if it’s different to the above. If you intend to add an additional driver to the rental, we will need this information for both drivers.
-

Is fuel included in my journey?

Hertz rates do not include fuel. Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank of fuel, or a local refuelling charge will apply.

For convenience, you may purchase a full tank of fuel from Hertz at the time of rental, at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations. This product is called Fuel Purchase Option (FPO). This method eliminates the need for you to refill the tank before returning. Please be aware that any unused fuel at the end of your journey will not be refunded. Please check the availability of FPO at the time of vehicle pick-up.
-

How does the Hertz One rental process differ from a normal Hertz rental?

When you arrive for your journey, you will not notice any real difference between what you would normally experience if you were paying for a full price Hertz rental. The only major difference is that you will be arriving without the knowledge of exactly what car you will be driving..
-

Do Hertz One Ways qualify for Gold service?

Gold Plus Rewards points are not awarded on Hertz One rentals and Hertz One rentals are not eligible for Gold service.
-

What is the penalty if I return my car late?

If you return the car more than 29 minutes late, you will be charged for an extra day’s rental at the prevailing daily rate that applies to the vehicle that you have rented.
