The Bay's mild weather and famous coastal fog creates conditions that allow plants from all over the world to flourish. If you visit the San Francisco Botanical Garden you'll find more than 8,000 different plants from around the globe. The garden is part of the park at the south end of the Golden Gate Bridge and makes a great place for a leisurely wander while admiring the views. Look out for a wide range of plants, from a grove of redwood trees to a minimalist Japanese garden. Its collection of colourful magnolias is considered by experts to be one of the most important in the world.
