Finished in 1488, after taking over 50 years to complete, the Divinity hall is one of the finest examples of English Gothic architecture. The room’s most iconic feature, its vaulted ceiling, consists of 455 carved bosses. Another interesting fact about the building is that it is the university’s first purpose built teaching room and examination room. The Divinity Hall will be etched in the memory of all Harry Potter fans as it was used as the filming location for Hogwarts infirmary, where Harry begins his recovery after his encounter with his nemesis, Lord Voldermort. Tours of the Divinity Hall and other surrounding areas start from £7.
