If you are looking for a great place to spend the day, then the Discovery Museum is the perfect choice. Entry is free here and the museum is open seven days a week, with a host of displays to explore. One highlight is Turbinia - a steam powered ship measuring 34 metres in length, which was once the world’s fastest ship and holds an iconic status in the history of Newcastle. Elsewhere, you can learn about the city at the Newcastle Story exhibit on the ground floor, while the first floor offers maritime and industrial displays like A Soldier’s Life, Story of the Tyne and Working Lives. All this makes the Discovery Museum a must visit.
