Covering 360 hectares, there pathways galore for visitors to take to by discover on foot or by bicycle, and while many of the ancient oak trees were knocked down to build bridges and boats during the 17th and 18th centuries, you can still find some at the wood's steep crags. However the heart of Chopwell Woods is made up of modern timber crops and walking through it allows visitors to enjoy lovely views of both the North Pennines and River Derwent.
