Since awarding its very first Star in 1926, the Michelin Guide has become a make-or-break publication for budding chefs seeking to attract customers from all over the world.

Eighty years on and a new generation of culinary connoisseurs has been unveiled in the Michelin Guide 2016 - officially published today. There were 16 newcomers, including Japanese fine dining restaurant Araki in Mayfair, London, which has gone straight into the culinary charts with two Stars.

Other notable wins include Leeds' eccentric gourmet chef Michael O'Hare of The Man Behind the Curtain - bringing the city its first win since 2006 - and Eipic and OX in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the city's first Michelin Starred restaurants since 2011.

According to the Guide, Two Star eateries are 'worth a detour' and One Star's 'worth a stop' so we've compiled a map of the newcomers for 2016 places to help you explore the next time you're out.

So the next time you're out on the road and are looking to try somewhere new, the Hertzhandy guide to the newest Michelin Starred restaurants is worth a look.
