Spanning 350 acres of Central London's landscape, Hyde Park is a preferred retreat for millions of visitors every year. With five Tube stations dotted around the edges and good road access, it's easily reached considering its location in the thick of the big city. Founded by King Henry VIII as a hunting ground, Hyde Park now houses many distinct landmarks including the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain. Hyde Park also hosts concerts throughout the summer, with past performances including the Live 8 event in 2005 and the annual Last Night of the Proms. The area also has tennis courts, cycle tracks and a boating lake within its boundaries, so it's a great place to take part in some sport.
