Inverness

Right in the heart of the thriving city of Inverness you can find a handful of islands to escape to. The Ness Islands stand in the River Ness opposite Bught Park and are connected to the riverbank by Victorian pedestrian suspension bridges. Visit the Ness Islands for a break from the city - because it can feel like you're suddenly in the middle of the Highlands. You will see a wide variety of trees, wildflowers and perhaps seals basking. Look out for fishermen too, as huge salmon have been caught near the islands. It's a family friendly spot: you'll find a play area for children and, on the banks alongside, the Ness Islands Miniature Railway.
