Get your map and camera at the ready: Hertz has launched a US photo treasure hunt – and there are prizes to be won.

Launching in 30 cities across three states, Ride ‘n’ Seek creates a bespoke, 10-stop challenge for each player. Find all 10 images for each city and you’ll receive 1,000 Hertz Gold Plus Reward Points – when you upload to them Instagram and tag them correctly – that’s 100 for each one, and 800 is equivalent to a day’s free car hire (in participating countries).

The best shots uploaded to Instagram could even win a Polaroid camera.

How Hertz Ride 'n' Seek works

There are objects, museums, viewpoints and more – each with its own difficulty rating – to be found across California, Florida and New York State. So it could be that you need to capture a beach sunset in Fort Lauderdale (and get a quick snap of a Florida orange while you’re there), or head to the Southernmost Point Buoy at the very end of the Florida Keys.

In New York, you’ll be challenged to find everything from a Long Island seagull to Buttermilk Falls near Ithaca. Meanwhile, if you’re heading to California, you’ll have to look up to find a Mariposa tree in Yosemite National Park, and out to sea to spot a dolphin in the waves.

How to play and enter Ride 'n' Seek

To play the game, simply visit Ride ‘n’ Seek and:

1. Select a state – Florida, California or New York.

2. Choose a specific area or city you’ll be visiting, and we’ll provide a checklist of 10 sights and items to look out for.

3. Keep your eyes peeled, and take photographs of the 10 treasures along the way.

4. Upload the images to Instagram using the hashtag for the state visited (#ridenseekcalifornia, #ridenseeknewyork or #ridenseekflorida).

5. Complete the online form or register for Gold Plus Rewards.

The tool complements the Hertz US Road Trip Planner – combine the two for a stateside adventure where you don’t miss a thing.
