Brighton visitors who discover the Booth Museum of Natural History step into an intriguing world of birds, butterflies and fossils. Happily, it's free to enter this little-known natural history museum right opposite the cafe and playground of Dyke Road Park. It was originally the private museum of a local wealthy, bearded Victorian collector. The place retains some of that original charm but the Booth Museum has moved with the times too. It now features modern interactive displays as well as traditional glass cases with rows of colourful butterflies. Watch out for the dramatic collection of bones and fossils too, including those of some terrifying dinosaurs.
