Mercedes worked the McLaren racing team to produce this road car packed with track technologies. If you hire a Mercedes SLR you’ll find yourself at the wheel of a very individual supercar - it’s not just the spectacular retro body with ‘butterfly-wing’ doors but the sizzling performance. The SLR features a hand-built aluminium supercharged V8 engine mounted in the front driving the rear wheels. On the road, you’ll find this translates to a 0-60mph time of around 3.5 seconds and some of the fastest mid-range acceleration times ever recorded for a production car. Amazingly the SLR also comes with a spacious two-seater cabin and a usefully large boot.
