The Infiniti marque was launched in 1989 by Japanese car manufacturer Nissan and was intended to fill a niche as its luxury division. The brand’s name is reflected in its logo which has been designed to show a road winding into the distance, to an infinite horizon.
Initially, the manufacturer concentrated on producing a range of luxury saloons based on the chassis of standard Nissan models and subsequently there has been a move towards building and marketing more sporty and luxurious cars. It has also been its stated ambition to become known as the “Japanese BMW” – and perhaps its greatest rival in the field is the Lexus brand, which is Toyota’s equivalent to Infiniti.
The Infiniti car currently available as part of The Dream Collection is the QX70. This has been designed to be a mid-sized crossover SUV to compete with other vehicles in the category, such as the Porsche Cayenne, the Audi Q7 and the BMW X series. It combines superb levels of comfort and luxury with great performance and a very high technical specification as well.
