The state of Rhode Island is located in the New England region of the United States. Known as “The Ocean State”, its capital is Providence, RI; also its largest city. The smallest by area of the United States, Rhode Island is linked with other states via Interstate 95 which runs from the southwest to the northeast of the state. Hiring a car in Rhode Island gives you the chance to visit the state's top attractions which include the WaterFire art installation, and McCoy Stadium which is home to the Pawtucket RedSox; a Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
If you're keen on seeing some Major League action, two stadiums are both within two hours of Providence: the Gillette Stadium hosts the NFL's New England Patriots home games 30 minutes away, while the legendary Boston Red Sox play baseball just an hour up I-95. If sport isn't for you, how about the WaterFire art installation in downtown Providence. It consists of 'firetenders' sailing down the river on torch lit boats, lighting over 80 fires. This occasion has been called “one of the top 20 events in North America” so is not to be missed.
When driving in Rhode Island, the law states that you cannot drive while wearing earphones or a headset to listen to music. It is also essential to know that you should not enter an intersection unless you can completely clear it. You must wait for traffic to clear enough so that you can drive straight through the intersection. Edging your way through is not allowed in any circumstances. If you need to use your windscreen wipers then you must also turn your headlights on to increase your visibility.
