Hertz at Nykoping Railway Station

With its arched brick façade covered with creepers, Nyköping's Central Station looks more like a big Swedish country house than the transport hub of the city. But this leafy concourse on Järnvägsgatan has plenty of room for taxis, buses and bikes, while round the back of the building is a spacious car park. There's a small café and shop to one side. If you arrange to pick up a hire car from Nyköping Railway Station you'll find the station is only about half a mile west of the modern shops of the city centre and it's about a mile's drive south to the waterfront marina.

Nyköping stands on the shore of a sheltered inlet from the Baltic. If you pick up a hire car from Nyköping Railway Station you can tour the city's mix of old and new attractions. The historic visitor highlights include Nyköping Castle, overlooking the serene river and the impressive city hall on the main square, as well as Vattugränd, Nyköping's oldest street. For more modern highlights of the city, there is the Aircraft Museum and a car museum. The city spreads across a flat plain at the mouth of a river but the surrounding countryside has attractive hills, lakes and woods. Skavsta airport is two miles to the northwest, beyond the main E4 coastal road.
