Hertz at Kristianstad

Kristianstad's impressive cream-painted period station stands on Våstra Boulevard very close to the old city centre. It fronts on to this busy arterial road but there's plenty of parking in various spots to the north of the station and on the west side of the tracks. This side of the station is just a few yards from the riverbank. Travellers who arrange to pick up a hire car here will find that Våstra Boulevard is a useful route, leading south past the town's Tivoli Gardens, which don't have their Danish counterparts amusements but share the attractive traditional layout. The city centre is the district to the east at this point.

If you collect a hire car in Kristianstad you'll find it sits in a watery landscape of lakes at the southern tip of Sweden. It's a short drive to the coast from here. Kristianstad itself is worth exploring too. The city's church, Holy Trinity, is favoured by tourists for its eloquent interior – the church is considered to be one of the most beautiful churches in northern Europe. The city centre is now mostly a pedestrian area but some tourists choose to hire a car and tour the centre to spot the many historic buildings.
