Hertz at Emmaboda

In southeast Sweden, Emmaboda Central Station stands on Järnvägsgatan or ‘Railway Street' in the centre of the small town. The station has three platforms linked by a bridge and a selection of parking spaces outside the humble station building. There's a pedestrian tunnel under the tracks so drivers can park on either side. Travellers who arrange to collect a hire car at Emmaboda Central Station find it's very close to the rather spread-out town centre, as well as the NR28 road running north-to-south through this rural area dotted with small lakes.

Emmaboda is mostly modern. Until 1875 there were only two houses, called A and B. If you hire a car at Emmaboda station you'll find A and B still standing proudly. Elsewhere, Emmaboda's claim to fame in Sweden is that it is featured by famed local writer Vilhelm Moberg in his books and films. Many of the spots mentioned are now popular destinations with Swedish visitors. If you don't know his stories you may still find the sights are attractive 19th-century relics anyway. Driving further afield from Emmaboda look out for Klasatorpet, an immaculately preserved cottage used as a Swedish period drama film set
