Campobasso was once known as ?Canada Town? or Maple Leaf City?, the reason been during World War 2 the Canadian forces occupied the city and gave it the nickname. Campobasso is renowned for its craftsmanship of blades, the city is also famous for its production of pears and scamorza (cheese). Campobasso is located in the central Italy and is bordered by the Adriatic Sea which, when hiring a car in Campobasso, makes a trip to the beach essential. The main attractions are the Castello Monforte and the Cathedral which was the first building in Campobasso. The Cathedral was built in 154 but was reconstructed as the city was hit by an earthquake, it was completed in 185.
