The tiny German village of Hahn has become famous as the name is given to an airport that has developed right alongside it. The Frankfurt-Hahn airport stands in the western Rhineland district. The airport is in fact 75 miles from the city of Frankfurt. Visitors who hire a car at Hahn can of course drive to Frankfurt but it also allows them to reach other places in the area. These include cities like Trier, Koblenz, Mainz and Wiesbaden. Apart from the airport, Hahn is a rural farming area.
Before becoming Frankfurt-Hahn Airport, the site was a front-line NATO fighter airbase, however, the village itself has much older roots. If you hire a car here you can explore this country community and its immediate vicinity. Saint Antony's Church in the village, for example, dates back to the 14th century and has notable gothic windows and one of the village houses is a beautiful timber-framed structure dating back more than 200 years. Other less historic attractions in Hahn include the go-karting track and the nine-hole golf course.
