Hertz at Emerald

Emerald is a city in Queensland, Australia. Situated inland in the Central Highlands region - a good drive west of coastal Rockhampton - Emerald is known for its stunning natural landscapes. Blackdown Tableland National Park is around an hour east of the city and the magnificent Carnavorn Gorge is due south, meaning car hire in Emerald is a great way to see the sights beyond.

You can hire a car in Emerald from Emerald Airport and at various pickup points throughout Queensland. Emerald is on a major thoroughfare, running north and south along the east coast - the A7 - meaning anyone touring Australia might stop off here for the city's notable amenities.

Emerald is inland of Queensland's more tourist-focused coastal resorts such as Rockhampton, so people tend to come here for the natural geological wonders of the local countryside. Attractions like the Fairbairn Dam and the Botanic Gardens are accessible in the town itself, but hiring a car in Emerald is recommended as the city is a gateway to some of the most scenic countryside in the Central Highlands.

Carnavorn Gorge is a couple of hours due south on the Gregory Highway (A7), and Blackdown Tableland National Park is east on the Capricorn Highway. Lake Maraboon is a short drive away, to the immediate southwest of Emerald.
