Yerevan is the charming capital city of Armenia where you will be confronted by a unique blend of cultures. Yerevan has an interesting history because it's the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world, which is incredible in itself. Here you will find a city with a mixture of high fashion, fancy cafes, sprawling parklands and boulevards, along with plenty of museums and other attractions to keep any visitor busy. The city has a mixture of Persian, Greek, and the old Soviet influence and it's impossible to not feel the charm of the city. When hiring a car in Yerevan, make sure you allow time for Republic Square - it's in the centre of the town and is edged with some great museums and galleries.
There are a number of museums in Yerevan and perhaps the best one to start with is the State Museum of Armenian History, which covers various periods - from the Stone Age to more modern history in Armenia. A must-see is the Erebuni Fortress and Museum, which dates back to the 15th century and is a fascinating piece of the country's history. This is located away from the main city centre, so hiring a car in Yerevan would make seeing this attraction easier.
Close your visit with a trip to the Blue Mosque. It's a beautiful religious landmark and is the sole operating mosque in the city.
